The Destined Knot: Members of Lux Musicae London join Fieri Consort for Giovanni Battista Guarini’s tragicomedy play Il pastor fido (The faithful shepherd). Set in the mythical and idealised pastoral world of Arcadia, this work inspired a whole generation of madrigal composers. Character names, especially those of the two lovers Amarilli and Myrtillo, even appeared widely in English madrigals.
The New Troy: A trip through London’s mythical origins featuring music associated with famous landmarks, from the Globe to Whitehall, including works by Byrd, Coperario, Lanier, and Henry and William Lawes.
